Vloggers Unite! at The Pioneer

The Vloggers Unite! screening series, a cross section of independent online video, will run from August 23 – September 3, 2006 at The Pioneer Theater. Vloggers Unite! features a collection of online films from individual artists and filmmakers taken from the Internet and presented on the big screen. The series will include video collectives, documentary projects, experimental arts, independent sitcoms and blog dramas, marking the first time such a wide range of online films will be presented in this context.

Many videoblogs and vlog-related projects will be featured, including work from Charlene Rule's ScratchVideo.TV project, featured on August 25, PANtasia, from the vlogging collective, Public Address Network (PAN), on August 27, and Chuck Olsen's blog doc, Blogumentary, on August 30, among others.

"Over the past few years, independent filmmakers have found the emerging format of vlogging to be the ideal place to develop new projects said Mica Scalin, an independent filmmaker and founder of The PAN. "The Vloggers Unite! series is unique because it highlights the growing community of film professionals using the Web to develop ideas, work collaboratively, and engage a larger community with their work."

The Pioneer Theater is located at East 3rd Street, between Avenues A and B (closer to A). For showtimes, call (212) 591-0434.

For more information, check out The Pioneer Theater's website. For tickets to The PAN's event, check out their website.

NODE101 Weekend in NYC … A Success!

NODE101Saturday

Thanks to all who showed up and participated yesterday in MNN's NODE101 Saturday:

A great big thanks to the guys from Digital Bicycle and Snippet TV, and our own IT wunderkind, Jacob Redding, for setting up all the laptops and cameras and creating a great mediamaking space, and Charles Hope from blip.tv, for being on hand to answer questions about our favorite video hosting service. :-)

Thanks to all the MNN producers who showed up and shared they're vlogs (which were created in our workshops) and NYC vloggers, Francisco Daum, FluxRostrum, who also spent the evening with us, encouraging the newbies in this wonderful new medium, and to Amanda Congdon and Mario Librandi, for coming down all the way from Connecticut, adding that extra bit of cachet to our event.

A special thanks goes out to Carlos Pareja from Brooklyn's access center, BCAT, and some of their producers, for coming into Manhattan to support our efforts at NODE101 :: NYC. Here's hoping they get their vlog on ASAP and set up a node in Brooklyn!

The biggest thanks of all goes to all the MNN staff who helped make yesterday a success: Ann, Wendy, Ivettza, Jacob (again), and Stefanie. It was truely a team effort.

MUCH LOVE AND GRATITUDE TO ALL!

(P.S. Check out more photos by Francisco Daum, and stay tuned for video!)
